A few months ago we shared our favorite Paleo snacks on-the-go here on the blog and recently we were featured on Expert Becaon talking about how to not give into snacking temptation and blow your Paleo diet! Both times we talked about Larabar because they have become one of our go-to snacks for living a Paleo lifestyle and this is why Larabar makes the best snack!
Well, what better news than to learn that we have become Ambassadors for Larabar and get to share the Larabar goodness with you! This is a company and product that we truly, truly believe in and to make it even better, Larabar was started by a woman, Lara Merriken!
One day while on a hike, she had an epiphany…
It started out as just a hike, no different than countless others I’ve taken into the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Little did I know I was about to come up with a mountain of an idea: Combine simple ingredients such as fruits and nuts to create a food product that’s tasty, wholesome, and convenient.
Boom! Larabar was born. What started out with just five flavors of bars, Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, Cashew Cookie, Banana Cookie, and Chocolate Coconut Chew, now grown to 5 different product lines and over 36 flavors, including a grain-free granola.
All the products in the Larabar line up are soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan and the original Larabar has no more than nine ingredients all from nuts, spices, and unsweetened fruits!
Why do Larabars make a great snack or addition to a meal? Because they fit all the Paleo standards (exception would be any with peanut butter~peanuts are a legume and not a tree nut) and have 2 macro ingredients in them: fat and carbs! They make awesome post workout snacks and whenever you are having a mid-day craving for something sweet.
If you want some added protein, try the ALT bar-
ALT uses an alternative protein source: peas. Gluten free, dairy free, and non-GMO, ALT is the Alternative Protein Bar™.
Personally, I am loving the new grain-free granola, Renola, because if I’m honest, the one thing I miss about NOT eating grains is having a bowl of cereal. When our box of Larabars arrived it had some Renola samples in it, which I promptly put in a bowl and added almond milk! All the yumminess of cereal without the grains and all the nutrition from a Larabar!
If you have not had a Larabar, I encourage you to run out and grab a few flavors to try. You can find them at almost any grocery store, Target, and Whole Foods. Their website also has every product and flavor available to order. And if you live near us, ask us for one. We have mini-bars, Uber bars, and Renola that we would love to give to you!
We are part of the Larabar Ambassador Team and have received free product as compensation. All opinions are our own, but we believed in this product long before we partnered with them. You can be sure everything we say about them is absolutely true to us.
